Adrenaline Alley is a story of what one person, Mandy Young, can do against all the odds. Mandy was working as an apprentice hairdresser when her son, John, a keen skateboarder suffered as a victim of anti–social behaviour and died aged 24.
The legacy she has created is the best skate park outside the USA. Mandy saw something that needed to be done, was understanding of kids and their needs. Above all there was no bitterness, just forgiveness and action.
MAD33 judges also loved her positivity, the unlikeliness of her story and the difference that she has made to so many people.
Adrenaline Alley is a charity that has grown from a grassroot community project into a sustainable charitable social enterprise with 46,000 individual members and endorsements from Sir Chris Hoy.
Mandy’s mission is to replicate the business model in other communities nationally. We wish her and her team every success.
