Data, data, data
Seeing the positive
Data, data everywhere… in a world obsessed with data (which is then often maligned) MAD33 judges were delighted to meet Max Roser, who is using data to track the upward trajectory of the world. He passionately describes how things are getting better, reminding us that in the 1800s 45% of children never reached their 5th birthday (now that figure is below 5%). And his work has only just begun. Of course, COVID19 is occupying his thoughts right now, but beyond that hunger, inequality and poverty are all in his sights. As Max says, there’s never been a better time to be born.
Max is the founder of #Our World in Data which aims to present research and data to make progress against the world’s largest problems. The publication now has more than 1.5 million readers every month. It’s a truly positive force for change!
